MESHUGGAH's TOMAS HAAKE Featured On Cover Of DRUM! Magazine
April 22, 2012MESHUGGAH drummer, lyricist, and vertigo-inducer Tomas Haake is featured on the cover of Drum! magazine's May 2012 issue (#191),available at newsstands now. Assistant editor Andrew Lentz attanded the January listening party for the band's new album in Fullerton, California, braved the noise level at January's NAMM convention in Anaheim, California to interview Haake, and then returned home to Northern California haggard and sleepless to face a deadline and piece the eight-page feature together.
"When you ride metal's bleeding edge," writes Lentz, "your biggest competition is yourself. In a counterintuitive move, MESHUGGAH's maestro of the mathematical beat-down, Tomas Haake found a way to upstage himself on 'Koloss' — by playing less."
The feature — with photos by world-renowned photographer Neil Zlozower — covers the making of the album and MESHUGGAH's writing process, the difference between performing live and doing drum clinics, and a sidebar with MESHUGGAH bassist Dick Lövgren.
